55th Anniversary Masquerade Ball

Award winning BOS Musical Theatre Company formed in 1959, recently celebrated its 55th anniversary at a Masquerade Ball held at the Masonic Lodge in Southport.

Chairman, Debbie Harrison presented society member Gill Corcoran with the annual Jack Donnelly Award for recognition of her outstanding service to the society over the last 12 months.

National Operatic Dramatic Award (NODA) Long Service Awards were also presented to three members to commemorate their years of service to amateur theatre; Ron and Doreen Bridson -50 years and Liz Clarke – 35 years.

We were also celebrating after winning two major awards at the prestigious National Operatic & Dramatic Association (NODA) Awards 2014 held at the Ramada Hotel.

BOS was nominated in a number of categories and scooped the awards for Best Leading Male Actor in a musical for Ben Wake as ‘Billy Bigelow’ and Best Comedic Performance for Heather Lewis as ‘Carrie’ in their recent production of ‘Carousel’.

Society Chairman Debbie Harrison said:

“We are extremely proud of the wealth of talent within our society.

We have a thriving younger membership which provides the foundation to take the society forward over the coming years. As we celebrate our 55 years we feel the time is right to update our image to represent our contemporary ethos.

We are very excited to announce that with effect from June 1st 2014 our new society name will become BOS Musical Theatre Company”.
